The hustle and bustle of the conference room abruptly came to a standstill as the woman at the head of the table slammed a heavy ledger down on the desktop and took to her feet. Even though a storm raged outside and the howling wind whistled through the cracks of the window, it was easy enough to hear her low, seductress’s laugh.
